Two Truck Drivers Killed as Trailers Burst Into Flames After Collision in Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A devastating road accident on National Highway 10 in Odisha’s Sundargarh district claimed the lives of two truck drivers after their trailers collided and caught fire on Tuesday.

The mishap took place near Kaintara within the jurisdiction of Bhasma police station. According to initial reports, a trailer travelling towards Sundargarh from Jharsuguda allegedly veered out of control, crossed the central divider and crashed into another trailer coming from the opposite direction.

The force of the collision is believed to have ruptured the fuel tank of one of the vehicles, sparking a massive blaze. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing both trailers and reducing them to twisted metal within a short span of time.

Local residents alerted emergency services, following which fire personnel and police teams rushed to the spot. While firefighters managed to douse the flames, the two drivers remained trapped inside their vehicles and could not be rescued.

Both victims died at the scene, and their bodies were severely charred in the fire, making immediate identification difficult. Authorities are working to ascertain their identities.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the accident. Further details are awaited.
