Tiger Wanders Into Mayurbhanj Village, Rescued

A Royal Bengal tiger from Odisha’s Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) entered a village near the reserve in Mayurbhanj district on Friday, causing panic among residents.
The tiger was spotted early in the morning at Khaparakhai village under the Thakuramunda forest range. After noticing the animal, villagers alerted the Forest Department.

The tiger later entered an unoccupied house. Locals managed to shut the house from outside, preventing the animal from moving into other areas.
Forest officials and a team from STR reached the spot and safely rescued the tiger.
Similipal Field Director Prakash Chand Gogineni said preliminary information suggested that the animal was a sub-adult tiger that had strayed into the village from the adjoining reserve.
Some villagers claimed they had seen the tiger moving around the area for the past three days.
