Telangana Pushes Network Hospitals to Enrol in PM RAHAT for Accident Victims

The Telangana government has directed all hospitals empanelled under its healthcare network to join the PM RAHAT scheme to ensure timely medical assistance for road accident victims.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju reviewed the scheme’s progress during a video conference attended by district collectors, police superintendents and transport department officials. Transport Commissioner Ilambarithi, Health Principal Secretary Christina Chongthu and Aarogyasri CEO Jendage Hanumanthu were also present at the meeting.
Jaju highlighted the importance of providing immediate medical care during the critical “golden hour” following an accident. Under PM RAHAT, eligible road accident victims can receive cashless treatment worth up to Rs 1.5 lakh at nearby hospitals.
He pointed out that although more than 1,000 hospitals are part of the Aarogyasri network, only 469 have enrolled in PM RAHAT so far. District collectors have been instructed to ensure that all remaining eligible hospitals complete the enrolment process without delay.

The Chief Secretary said the scheme could facilitate medical treatment worth at least Rs 100 crore annually, while also easing the financial pressure on the Aarogyasri healthcare programme.
He further stressed that participating hospitals must comply with the prescribed procedures, including requirements related to police investigation, while providing treatment under the scheme.
