Singapore President Visits Konark Sun Temple

Bhubaneswar: Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam visited the iconic Sun Temple at Konark today during his two-day trip to Odisha. The temple, also known as the Black Pagoda, was closed to the general public from 8:00 AM to 12:05 PM due to the high-profile visit.

Elaborate security arrangements were in place for the President’s visit, with senior officials including DIG Akhileswar Singh, IG Anup Sahu, Puri Collector Siddharth Swain, and SP Vinit Agrawal overseeing the arrangements. The security measures included the deployment of one SP, two additional SPs, two DSPs, 11 IICs, six platoons of police forces, and bomb disposal squads.

President Shanmugaratnam’s visit marks the continuation of growing ties between Singapore and Odisha. On the first day of his trip, eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the Odisha government and Singapore, covering various sectors to boost collaboration and development.
