Royal Bengal Tiger From Andhra Pradesh Enters Odisha, Alert In Malkangiri

Bhubaneswar: A Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh has entered Odisha and is currently moving through the Motu forest range in Malkangiri district, prompting heightened vigilance by forest officials.
According to the Malkangiri Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), the tiger has reportedly entered Odisha from Andhra Pradesh’s Papikonda National Park. The big cat is fitted with a radio collar, allowing authorities to track its movement through satellite and Very High Frequency (VHF) systems.
The Andhra Pradesh Forest Department has shared the tracking data with its Odisha counterpart to facilitate continuous monitoring.
Following the development, the Malkangiri Forest Division has intensified surveillance along the inter-state border and deployed Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) to tackle any emergency. Public announcement systems are also being used to alert residents about the tiger’s presence.
People living in border villages have been advised to avoid unnecessary visits to forest areas, remain cautious and immediately inform forest officials about any sighting or movement of the tiger.
The Forest Department has appealed to residents to cooperate with officials and follow the safety advisories.
