Pakistan Fined 5% Of Match Fee For Slow Over-Rate In Tri-Series Final

Dubai: Pakistan have been fined five per cent of their players’ match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate in the ODI Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka in Lahore.
Match referee Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel imposed the sanction after Pakistan were found one over short of the required quota within the stipulated time, even after accounting for time allowances.
Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the penalty, avoiding a formal
hearing. The charge was levelled by the on-field umpires and match officials under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
The fine came despite Pakistan’s thrilling three-wicket victory over Sri Lanka to lift the tri-series trophy. Chasing 326, Pakistan reached 329 for seven with nine balls to spare.
Fakhar Zaman top-scored with 127 off 99 balls, while Arafat Minhas contributed a quickfire 61 off 31 deliveries. Earlier, Kamindu Mendis scored 131 to guide Sri Lanka to 325 for eight.
