Red warning issued for very heavy rainfall in five Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has issued a red warning for intense heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in five districts of Odisha today.

The red warning has been issued for Sonepur, Angul, Boudh, Deogarh, and Sambalpur. These five districts will experience scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall and isolated extremely heavy rainfall which is driven by a well-marked low-pressure system over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha -West Bengal coasts.

Meanwhile, an orange warning has been issued for 18 districts of Odisha. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh.

Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Ganjam.

The The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the well-marked low pressure area that lay over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha -West Bengal coasts will very likely move northwestwards across North Odisha & Gangetic West Bengal during next 2 days.

On Friday, light to Moderate rain or thundershower will very likely occur at most places over all the districts of Odisha. Seven districts including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Nuapada, and Bolangir, have received an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall tomorrow.

Like wise, an yellow warning has been predicted for 20 districts of the state. heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, , Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir on Sunday. These districts have received a yellow warning for very rainfall on Sunday.
