CM Majhi Participates In National Water Summit; Reaffirms Commitment To Water Security

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday participated in the National Departmental Summit on Water in New Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Majhi said the summit reinforced the spirit of ‘Team India’ and cooperative federalism in tackling water challenges through collective action, innovation and people’s participation. Highlighting agriculture’s importance to Odisha’s economy, he said water security and irrigation remain key priorities for the state. The government is focusing on expanding irrigation infrastructure, promoting water conservation and groundwater recharge, strengthening Pani Panchayats, and leveraging technology for efficient water management.

“Inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision of Jan Bhagidari, we remain committed to building a water-secure and Samruddha Odisha,” Majhi said.

The two-day summit, organised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti on September 1–2, brought together ministers and senior officials from states and UTs to discuss water security, irrigation, conservation, source sustainability and rural drinking water schemes.

Prime Minister Modi, while addressing the valedictory session, stressed continuous review of outcomes, greater public participation, water-saving technologies and the use of AI for robust water-data governance.
