PM Modi Urges ‘Vocal for Local’, Says Avoid Unnecessary Gold Purchases and Foreign Weddings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of India on the country’s 7.8% economic growth and urged citizens to support the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat by choosing Indian-made products and spending more within the country.
Addressing the nation, PM Modi appealed to people to avoid unnecessary purchases, including gold, and said foreign trips purely for leisure should be reduced. He also encouraged families to host weddings in India instead of abroad, saying this could benefit the tourism, hospitality, catering, textile, jewellery and other sectors while creating employment.

The Prime Minister stressed that India is progressing rapidly despite global challenges, including ongoing conflicts, disruptions in supply chains and the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He called for stronger adoption of the “Vocal for Local” and “Made in India” approach, saying greater domestic consumption can help strengthen the Indian economy.
PM Modi also reiterated the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047, when the country completes 100 years of independence. He urged citizens to contribute through hard work, responsible choices and a collective commitment to the nation’s development.
