Odisha Vigilance Conducts Simultaneous Raids at Five Locations Linked to VIMSAR Steward in DA Case

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday carried out simultaneous searches at five locations linked to Aswini Meher, a Steward in the Office of the Superintendent at VIMSAR, Burla, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case. The raids were launched following allegations that he had amassed assets beyond his known sources of income.

The searches were conducted on the strength of warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Judge, Sambalpur. A team comprising five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), five Inspectors, three Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other supporting staff carried out the operation across Sambalpur and Bargarh districts.

The Vigilance teams searched Meher’s government residential quarter at the Medical Staff Colony in VIMSAR, an under-construction four-storeyed building at Saurav Vihar in Burla, another building at Pathanbandh in Burla, a property at Govindpalli in Bargarh district, and his office chamber at the Superintendent’s Office of VIMSAR, Burla.

Officials are currently verifying documents, valuables, and other records found during the searches. The exact value of the assets and any further findings will be disclosed after the search operation is completed.

Notably, this is the second major Vigilance operation carried out in Sambalpur on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, the anti-corruption agency had also raided four properties linked to Dhanurdhar Biswal, Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent at VIMSAR, Burla, in another disproportionate assets case.
