Odisha Vigilance Arrests Joint Director for Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested Dayanidhi Bagh, Joint Director of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development, on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The arrest followed extensive raids conducted by Vigilance teams on June 30 at eight locations linked to Bagh across Bhubaneswar, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur districts. The raids uncovered massive unaccounted assets, including two residential buildings, a three-BHK flat, 84 acres of land with two farmhouses, 312 grams of gold jewellery, over ₹58 lakh in bank deposits, and a Brezza car registered under a benami name.

A formal case has been registered by the Koraput Vigilance Division. Following his arrest, Bagh will be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, in Bhawanipatna.

Officials confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to trace the full extent of Bagh’s wealth and verify the legitimacy of his assets.
