Bhubaneswar: Student union elections will be held on October 15 across 341 higher educational institutions in Odisha, marking the return of campus polls after an eight-year gap.
According to notifications issued on Wednesday, elections will be conducted in 328 colleges and 13 universities, while 205 institutions—including 202 colleges and three universities—will choose student representatives through selection. Odia University, Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University and Gangadhar Meher University will follow the selection process.
Candidates can file nominations on October 9 from 10 am to 1 pm, with scrutiny scheduled from 2 pm to 4 pm. The final candidate list will be released on October 10 after the withdrawal window. ‘Why I Stand For’ meetings will be held on October 14.

Voting will take place on October 15 from 8 am to 2 pm, followed by counting and declaration of results. Newly elected representatives will take oath on October 16.
Police have warned non-students against entering campuses during the election period and said social media activity will also be monitored.
At Utkal University, more than 150 CCTV cameras will monitor hostels, canteens and campus entry-exit points. Security and administrative teams will oversee the campus, while public-address systems will be used to inform students and prevent outside interference.
