Banks to Remain Closed for Three Consecutive Days in Some Cities from October 24

New Delhi: Bank branches in several cities across India are set to remain closed for three consecutive days, from October 24 to 26, due to the fourth Saturday, Sunday and regional holidays. Customers planning urgent banking transactions have been advised to check the holiday schedule applicable to their respective locations.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Accordingly, October 24, which falls on the fourth Saturday, will be a bank holiday, followed by Sunday, October 25, when banks across the country will remain closed.

On Monday, October 26, bank branches in certain states will also remain closed on account of regional observances, including Lakshmi Puja, Accession Day and Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, depending on the location.

Cities likely to observe three consecutive days of bank closures include Agartala, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jammu, Shimla and Srinagar, as per the reported holiday schedule. In Jammu and Kashmir, October 26 is observed as Accession Day.

However, the holiday will not apply uniformly across all states. Public sector banks, private banks and regional rural banks will follow the holiday calendar applicable to their respective locations. Customers are advised to verify the schedule with their bank before visiting a branch.

Although bank branches will remain closed on the designated holidays, customers can continue to access several banking services through internet banking, mobile banking and Unified Payments Interface (UPI). ATMs will also remain available for cash withdrawals, subject to cash availability and operational conditions.

Customers with urgent branch-related work are advised to complete their transactions in advance to avoid inconvenience.
