Odia Maoist Among 12 Killed in Chhattisgarh

Bhubaneswar: An Odia man is among the 16 Maoists killed in a recent operation by security forces in the Gariabandh area of Chhattisgarh, along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. The deceased, identified as Alok alias Munna from Niali in Cuttack district, had a bounty of Rs 18 lakh on his head.

The operation, conducted four days ago, targeted Maoist groups operating in the region. A total of 16 Maoists were killed, and the police have now identified 12 of them, including Munna. Two other individuals on the list were living undercover in Odisha’s Nuapada and Kalahandi districts.

In the wake of the successful operation, the Police DG has instructed district SPs to remain vigilant about Naxal activity in Nuapada and Kalahandi. Special armed police forces will be deployed, and drones, along with modern communication systems, will be used to monitor Naxal movements. Local police are also urged to expand their intelligence network regarding Naxals.
