Music Banned After Midnight, 15 Platoons Deployed for Zero Hour Night in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has issued stringent guidelines for Zero Hour Night celebrations on December 31, 2025, banning music and sound systems after 12:00 midnight to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.

According to the police, all police stations have been directed to identify hotels, clubs, and other establishments organising New Year events and verify their permissions along with the expected number of participants. Roadside celebrations, public gatherings, and the use of music systems on roads have been strictly prohibited.

Intensive patrolling will be carried out around celebration venues, major roads, and sensitive areas, with special emphasis on the safety of women and children. Effective motor vehicle checking and road blockades will be enforced to curb drunken driving and other traffic violations.

Police posts will remain on high alert at event venues to prevent quarrels, disputes, or clashes. As part of the security arrangement, 15 platoons of police force will be deployed, focusing on traffic management, surveillance, and standby response.

Zone-wise monitoring will be overseen by senior officials, including ADCPs Sunaram Lembrem (Zones 1 & 2), Sanajay Kumar Mohapatra (Zone 3), Arati Giri (Zone 4), and Subrat Kumar (Zones 5 & 6). ACPs will supervise subdivisions, while Inspectors-in-Charge have been made personally responsible for implementation of the guidelines.

The Commissionerate Police has stressed strict accountability, warning that any lapses or deviations will invite serious action. Citizens have been advised to cooperate with the police, adhere to the guidelines, and help ensure a safe and orderly New Year celebration.
