Leopard Found Dead in Wired Net Inside Balasore Reserve Forest

Balasore: A leopard was found dead after getting trapped in a wired net inside the Kathagochi Reserve Forest under the Nilgiri Forest Range in Odisha’s Balasore district, forest officials said on Wednesday.

According to reports, the carcass was spotted on Tuesday morning in the Mitrapur section of the reserve forest after local forest personnel received information from the area. Officials suspect the nearly 10-year-old leopard became entangled in the net on Monday night.

A three-member team of veterinary doctors conducted the post-mortem examination at the spot. Preliminary findings revealed that the leopard struggled for a long time in an attempt to free itself before dying.

After completion of the examination, forest officials buried the carcass inside the forest as per protocol.
