Jajpur Schools to Remain Closed on August 18 Amid Flood, Rain Threat

Jajpur: In view of the ongoing flood situation, waterlogging in several areas and the possibility of heavy rainfall, the Jajpur district administration has ordered the suspension of classes in all schools across the district on Tuesday, August 18.
The District Education Officer issued an order on Monday directing all government, government-aided and private schools to keep classes suspended for the day.

The directive covers elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools, along with Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and Odisha Model Adarsha Vidyalayas (OMAVs) operating in the district.
Officials said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure considering the prevailing flood conditions and the possibility of further rainfall, which could worsen waterlogging and create difficulties for students and school staff.
However, the order does not mean that school premises will remain inaccessible. The Education Department said the campuses will remain available for rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations whenever required.
Schools may be used as temporary centres for emergency response and relief activities if the flood situation deteriorates or any exigency arises.
The district authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have advised all concerned to remain alert amid the prevailing weather and flood conditions.
