IMD Forecasts Cloudy Skies, Light Rain in Puri; Devotees Advised to Stay Alert

Puri: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy weather with intermittent light rainfall in Puri over the next six hours, prompting authorities to advise devotees and pilgrims to remain cautious during the ongoing Rath Yatra festivities.
In its nowcast bulletin issued at 7 am on Wednesday, the IMD said the city’s temperature is likely to remain between 27°C and 30°C, while relative humidity is expected to stay high at 85–90 per cent. The weather is expected to remain overcast, with light rain occurring at intervals.

The department’s observations at 5:30 am recorded a temperature of 28°C and 89 per cent humidity. Light rain had already begun in the city, with 1.1 mm of rainfall recorded during the early morning hours.
The weather agency has also cautioned people about the possibility of lightning and thunderstorms. Pilgrims have been advised to take shelter in permanent structures during heavy rain or gusty winds and avoid standing under trees, electric poles or temporary sheds.
The IMD further urged devotees to stay hydrated, keep track of official weather updates and remain careful while travelling on rain-soaked roads.
