Humane Sagar’s Mother Seeks Probe into Singer’s Death

Bhubaneswar: Sephali Suna, mother of late Odia singer Humane Sagar, has filed a detailed complaint at the Markat Nagar Police Station in Cuttack, seeking an urgent and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding her son’s death.

In a five-page representation submitted to the Inspector-in-Charge, Suna urged the police to immediately register an FIR and conduct a transparent, evidence-based inquiry. She requested that all possible angles be examined and that anyone found directly or indirectly responsible be held accountable in accordance with the law.

The complaint raises concerns over what the family has described as unclear and suspicious circumstances leading to the singer’s demise. It seeks investigation into possible foul play, including allegations of poisoning, physical harm, abetment, criminal negligence, harassment, threats, conspiracy, financial motives, and tampering with evidence, including digital data.

Suna has also sought specific investigative steps, such as examination of CCTV footage, assessment of security arrangements at the singer’s residence, reconstruction of his last movements in Cuttack, preservation and analysis of digital and telecom records, scrutiny of financial transactions and assets, review of medical records from the past three to four years, and verification of any claims related to harassment or defamation.

The complaint names several individuals who were reportedly close to Humane Sagar in recent years, including his wife, friend Arpita Choudhury and her family, Prashant Behera, Lulu Mohanty, and Jagdish Mohanty, stating that their roles warrant thorough scrutiny.

“A timely investigation and stringent punishment to the guilty will not only oblige me, but also the crores of Humane Sagar’s fans and well-wishers who seek truth and justice,” the complaint stated.

Humane Sagar passed away at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on the evening of November 17. Hospital sources had stated that he was undergoing treatment for multi-organ dysfunction syndrome, chronic liver failure, pneumonia, and related health complications.
