FPIs Pull Out ₹48,056 Crore from Equities in October

Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have withdrawn ₹48,056 crore from Indian equities so far in October, driven by rising crude oil prices and growing geopolitical uncertainties. However, their selling activity showed signs of slowing last week, with foreign investors becoming net buyers on two trading sessions.

According to the latest depository figures, investors sold shares worth ₹53,337 crore through stock exchanges during the month. In contrast, the primary market attracted ₹5,281 crore in FPI investments, partially offsetting the outflow.

Foreign investor activity in the debt market remained mixed. Investments through the General Limit route recorded an inflow of ₹3,737 crore in October so far. Meanwhile, the Fully Accessible Route (FAR) saw withdrawals of ₹3,858 crore, while the Voluntary Retention Route (VRR) registered outflows of ₹1,332 crore.
