Four Cattle Rescued After Suspected Smugglers Abandon SUV in Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Four cattle were rescued after suspected cattle smugglers allegedly abandoned them inside a Scorpio SUV near Sukhabandh under the Hemgir police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Sunday.

According to preliminary information, the accused were transporting the animals when the SUV reportedly developed a mechanical problem near Sukhabandh. Taking advantage of the situation, the occupants fled the scene, leaving behind both the vehicle and the cattle.

During the investigation, police found that the SUV was fitted with a fake registration number plate. The rear seats had also been removed to create additional space for transporting the animals, indicating that the vehicle had been modified for the purpose.

After being alerted, Hemgir police rushed to the spot, rescued the cattle and seized the SUV. An investigation has been launched to identify the persons involved and determine the source and intended destination of the animals.

Police are examining all possible leads to trace the suspects and uncover the alleged cattle smuggling network.
