Elderly Woman Killed in Elephant Attack While Collecting Mahua in Deogarh

Deogarh: In a tragic incident, a 60-year-old woman was killed after being trampled by a wild elephant at Aunli village under the Reamal block of Deogarh district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Pati Pradhan, a resident of the same village.

According to reports, Pradhan had ventured into the nearby Aunli Khesara forest early in the day to collect mahua flowers when she encountered a wild elephant. The animal reportedly attacked her, leading to her death on the spot.
On receiving information, local police and forest department officials rushed to the area, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Deogarh Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rashmi confirmed the incident and stated that financial compensation would be provided to the bereaved family in accordance with government norms.
