Educational Institutions in Odisha to Remain Closed for Two Days for Diwali

Bhubaneswar: All educational institutions across Odisha, including schools, colleges, and universities, will remain closed for two days in view of the Diwali festival, the state government announced on Saturday.

The School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department has declared October 20 (Monday) as an additional holiday for all government and aided schools across the state, except in Nuapada district. In addition, October 21 (Tuesday) has been declared a holiday for Diwali in lieu of one local holiday. Official letters in this regard have been issued to all District Education Officers (DEOs).

Similarly, the Higher Education Department has announced that all public universities and colleges under its administrative control will remain closed on October 20 and 21 for Diwali celebrations. The department has sent formal notifications to the PG Council chairpersons of public universities and principals of government and non-government colleges.

Both departments clarified that the additional holiday on October 20 will be adjusted against one remaining local holiday as per the government calendar.
