DGP Abhaya Inspects Areas at Bengal Border

Baleswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Director General of Odisha Police Abhaya, reviewed deployment in the northern border districts of Baleswar and Mayurbhanj after more a third of the state’s coronavirus cases were found to be linked to neighbouring Bengal.
Director General of Police Abhay has asked officials to make sure no one from West Bengal enters Odisha. Since borders with neighbouring states are too long to man, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will hold a video conference today with sarpanches of nearly 6,800 gram panchayats.Sarpanches were earlier delegated powers of the district collector to aid the fight against the coronavirus.
Out of 82 people who have tested positive in Odisha, 28 either returned from Bengal or came into contact with someone who did. That includes 15 people in the past 48 hours alone. A woman in Bhubaneswar’s Surya Nagar who transmitted the virus to seven others, including her elderly parents, had visited Kolkata.
The state government has released information on the travel history of five people who travelled to Kolkata and tested positive in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Sunday.
