Cuttack Violence: Situation Improving, Says Law Minister

Bhubaneswar: Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Monday assured that normalcy is gradually being restored in Cuttack following the recent violence during the Durga Puja immersion procession. He also urged citizens to maintain peace and uphold the dignity of the city.

Speaking to the media, Harichandan said, “The situation in Cuttack is steadily improving. The police are taking all necessary measures to address the issue. The Chief Minister has also appealed for peace. We request everyone to avoid actions that could tarnish the image of Odisha or Cuttack. Let us all work together to maintain harmony and channel our energies in a positive direction.”

The Minister emphasized that the government remains alert and will take strict action against those responsible for the unrest.

It may be recalled that a violent clash broke out at Dargah Bazaar in Cuttack during the Durga Puja idol immersion on October 3, injuring four people, including Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo. So far, police have arrested eight individuals in connection with the incident.
