BJP Revokes Suspension of Senior Leader Kharabela Swain

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has withdrawn the suspension imposed on senior leader Mahameghabahan Aira Kharabela Swain, reinstating him into the party fold.
The announcement was made on Sunday by BJP Odisha State Disciplinary Committee Convener Sudarshan Nayak, who confirmed that the earlier disciplinary action against Swain has been revoked.
Swain, a former Member of Parliament from Balasore, was suspended from the party for alleged indiscipline after he contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate. He had sought a BJP ticket from the Balasore constituency but was denied, prompting him to enter the fray independently.
A veteran politician, Swain was elected to the Lok Sabha from Balasore on a BJP ticket in 1998, 1999, and 2004. He had parted ways with the party in 2009 to form his own political outfit, before rejoining the BJP in 2019. In the same year, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Kandhamal but was unsuccessful.
With the revocation of his suspension, Swain has now formally returned to active participation within the BJP.
