Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Arrest Three, Seize Brown Sugar Worth ₹60 Lakh

Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested three individuals, including a notorious woman drug dealer, and seized brown sugar valued at around ₹60 lakh.
According to Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, the Special Crime Unit conducted the operation based on a tip-off and intercepted the accused near Harirajpur Chhak under Jatni police station limits. During the raid, the police recovered 555 grams of brown sugar from the accused.

The arrested have been identified as Anita Paramguru (41), Rajendra Kumar Sahu (32), and Shiba Prasad Dash (28). In addition to the narcotics, authorities seized two SUVs, ₹5.10 lakh in cash, five mobile phones, and gold ornaments, bringing the total estimated value of the seizure to around ₹1 crore.
Police officials described the operation as a significant step in curbing the illegal drug trade in the twin cities. “The confiscation of a substantial quantity of narcotics and the arrest of key individuals is a major breakthrough in our mission to dismantle criminal syndicates and protect the community,” said a senior officer.
The accused are set to be produced before court, while investigations continue to trace the supply network, financial links, and potential larger criminal connections.
