All women athletes first time ever for Padma Award 2020
(Reporters Today, Bhubaneswar): The Sports ministry has suggested nine names of Indian Athletes for the Padma Awards in 2020. For the first time in the history of Indian sports that all 9 athletes are being girl are nominated for this prestigious award. Six time World Boxing Champion and Padma Bhusan awardee Mary Kom has been nominated for ‘Padma Bibhusan’ this time. This apart, Badminton player P V Sindhu, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, Table Tennis Player Manika Batra, T20 skipper Harmanpeet Kaur, former Shooter Suma Shirur, Mountain twin sisters Tashi and Nungsi Maliki are some names. The selected winners will be announced on 26th jan 2020.
