Retired IFS Officer Jailed for 2 Years in DA Case

Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Cuttack on Monday sentenced retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Amresh Kumar Jaiswal, former Conservator of Forests at the PCCF office, Aranya Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, to two years of rigorous imprisonment for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
In addition to the prison term, the court imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on Jaiswal.
According to an official release, Jaiswal was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The court found him guilty after trial and pronounced the sentence.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance has said it will approach the competent authority to initiate the process of stopping Jaiswal’s pension.
