Fake Engine Oil Manufacturing Unit Busted in Cuttack, Factory Manager Detained

Cuttack: A major counterfeit engine oil manufacturing unit was busted on Tuesday in the Sunariban area near Khairapol under Jagatpur police limits. The unit had allegedly been operating for an extended period, producing and distributing fake engine oil and grease in the market.

The raid was jointly carried out by the Jagatpur police and officials from the Weights and Measures Department. During the operation, the factory owner managed to flee the scene, but the police have detained the factory manager for interrogation.

According to initial reports, the unit was recycling used and burnt engine oil to create products that closely resembled genuine engine oil. These counterfeit items were then repackaged and sold in the market as branded products.

Authorities seized hundreds of drums filled with fake oil during the raid. The estimated value of the seized counterfeit goods is believed to run into several crores of rupees.

The factory’s operations have been shut down, and a thorough investigation is underway to locate the absconding owner and expose the full scale of the illegal racket.
