IMD Forecasts Rain in Odisha; Crops Affected

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha have been experiencing continuous rainfall over the past few days, with more rain expected in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall across various districts of the state until December 6, 2024, under the influence of cyclonic storm Fengal.

The unseasonal rain has already impacted standing crops in several regions, raising concerns among farmers.

District-wise Rainfall Forecast:

Day 1 (Until December 3, 2024)

Light to moderate rain is expected in South Coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Nabarangpur.

Day 2 (December 3 – December 4, 2024)

Light rain likely in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Day 3 (December 4 – December 5, 2024)

Light rain forecasted for Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Day 4 (December 5 – December 6, 2024)

Light rain expected in Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, and Gajapati.

Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their crops from further damage, and local authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
