Heavy Rainfall Warning Issued
Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued heavy rainfall and thunderstorm warning for several districts of the State today. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Bhadrak and Jajpur today, the Meteorological Centre forecasted.
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sundargarh, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul and Dhenkanal today, it predicted.
Under the influence of the Low Pressure Area over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood, squally weather with occasionally surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely over West Central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coasts during next 24 hours. Also squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 Kmph very likely over the deep sea areas of North Bay of Bengal during 17th to 19th October, it added.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea areas of West Central & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coasts during next 24 hours and deep sea areas of North Bay of Bengal during 17th to 19th October. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its morning bulletin today said a Low Pressure Area lies over north Telangana & neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.
The above Low Pressure Area/ remnant cyclonic circulation is likely to move generally northwestwards towards west Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days. Under its influence, isolated heavy rainfall very likely to occur over south Odisha during 17th-18th October, over Vidarbha on 17th October and over Madhya Pradesh on 17th & 18th October.
