Van Mahotsav celebrated at Khordha
Surjit kumar Dhal Khordha, July 6: The 70th Van Mahotsav was celebrated at District Institute Of Education and Training (DIET) school, Khordha on Saturday.
Khordha MLA Joytrindra Nath Mitra, and Collector Sitanshu kumar Rout were present on the occasion.
On the occasion Mitra said the festivals raises the awareness of trees among people and highlights the need for planting and tending of trees as one of the best ways to prevent global warming and reduces pollution. ”
Rout said trees can be planted for various purposes.
They provide alternative fuels, creat shelter-belts around fields to increase productivity, provide food for cattle, offer shade and decorate the landscape, reduce droughts and help in preventing soil erosion.
ACF Khordha Division Dillip Kumar Rout, DFO Sudeep Nayak, ACF Balugaon Forest Range were among those who were present on the occasion.
