CM announces slew of package for Bijepur Assembly segment

Surjit Kumar DhaBhubaneswar, May 31:  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Thursday announced a slew of packages for areas under Bijepur Assembly constituency which included houses, piped water supply projects and mega lift irrigation schemes.

            The Chief Minister announced, only on the second day of his fifth term, a mega pipe water supply scheme costing nearly Rs 1120 crores to cover nearly eight lakh population of 505 villages of Bargarh district within the next two years.

            He also announced that about 34,000 eligible households having Kutcha houses in Bijepur Assembly constituency will be provided with Pucca houses.

Patnaik said a new mega lift irrigation project under Parbatigiri Mega Lift Scheme will be taken up in Buromunda GP of Gaisilet Block with water source from river Ong at an estimated cost of Rs.48.00 crores.

This will provide irrigation to 3000 acres of agriculture land, he said.

The packages also covers twenty nine River Lift Projects & about 3000 Deep Borewell Irrigation Projects in Bijepur Assembly constituency, he added.

Infrastructure works including water supply, street lighting, roads, drainage, Town Hall, Community Centers, Kalyan Mandap, Stadium, Market Complex, Park, Office buildings etc. will be taken up in Bijepur and Barpalli NACs.  Package for each town will cost Rs. 40 crores and the works will be completed within next 2 years.

In order to provide quality power to the farmers, separate agriculture feeders totaling 60 kilometers of 33 KV line and 125 kilometers of 11 KV line will be constructed.  Besides, 50 new Distribution Transformers will also be set up to improve the voltage level.

The Chief Ministers announcement also included three new R I Circles at Guderpa, Ta.pali and Dangabahal under Gaisilet Tehsil and a new PHC will be opened at Talpadar in Bijepur Block.

Adequate number of doctors will be posted in existing health institutions within a week, he asserted.

Bijepur will also have an Industrial Training Institute and two Skill Development Centres at Gaisilet and Barpalli.

Four new road development projects covering a length of about   80 kilometers  and  one bridge at a cost of nearly Rs 82 crore will  be sanctioned to strengthen the road network in the area.

The Chief Minister said he will review progress of these projects every two moths and announce the package including livelihood and other sectors soon.

Notably, the Chief Minister had contested from Bijepur Assembly segment besides his home turf Hinjli.

During his address to the new Council of Ministers on Wednesday soon after swearing in he had added ‘Time’ to his 3-T ( Team work, Transparency, Technology) as he stressed implementation of schemes in a time bound manner.

He had stressed  that the people of the State, especially the youth, expected projects to the expedited in a time bound manner.
