No candidate found fit for 5k voters in Bhubaneswar

Surjit Kumar Dhal, Bhubaneswar, May 23: Close to 5000 of the voters in Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency did not find any candidates suitable during the 2019 elections from the high-profile seat.
As per the Election Commission of India’s latest figures, 4900 voters opted for the ‘none of the other above’ (NOTA) option.
The Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency comprises a mix of urban and rural voters and politically alert citizens. It is assumed that a handful number of this class of voters expressed their rejection by pressing for the NOTA option.
In all 14 candidates had contested from this seat. Aparajita Sarangi of BJP was leading from his nearest rival Arup Patnaik of BJD by over 20,000 votes.
