Dhanteras Festive Rush Grips Bhubaneswar Markets; Gold, Silver And Utensils In Demand

Bhubaneswar: Markets across Bhubaneswar witnessed a festive rush on Friday as people thronged jewellery stores and markets to shop for gold, silver, utensils and other household essentials on the occasion of Dhanteras.
Traditionally considered an auspicious day for purchasing precious metals and household goods, Dhanteras sees people making new purchases in the hope of prosperity, wealth and good fortune.
Jewellery traders in the capital city are optimistic about business this year, expecting higher customer footfall amid the recent decline in gold and silver prices. Gold and silver coins, along with lightweight jewellery, have emerged as popular choices among buyers. Many customers are also opting for affordable purchases to celebrate the occasion while keeping their budgets in mind.

According to Hindu beliefs, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kubera and Lord Dhanvantari are worshipped on Dhanteras. Buying gold and silver on this day is considered auspicious and is associated with prosperity and financial well-being.
Apart from precious metals, the demand for new utensils and household essentials has also picked up. Kitchenware, brooms and domestic appliances are among the other items attracting buyers to local markets.
For many families, Dhanteras is not just about shopping but also about observing age-old traditions and welcoming prosperity into their homes.
