Kimi Antonelli Becomes Youngest Formula 1 World Champion At 20

New Delhi: Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli scripted Formula 1 history on Sunday, November 1, 2026, becoming the youngest-ever World Drivers’ Champion at the age of 20.

The Mercedes driver secured the 2026 championship despite finishing third at the Mexico City Grand Prix, behind race winner Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. With four races remaining, Antonelli has secured an unassailable lead in the drivers’ standings.

Antonelli broke Sebastian Vettel’s record, who won his maiden world title at the age of 23 in 2010. He also became the first Italian to win the F1 world championship since Alberto Ascari in 1953, ending a 73-year wait for Italy.

Verstappen claimed victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix, which witnessed a red flag following a crash involving Cadillac driver Valtteri Bottas.

The Formula 1 season will now move to the Brazilian Grand Prix in São Paulo, followed by the Las Vegas race.
