India’s First Indigenous Bullet Train Design Ready: Vaishnaw

India has achieved a major milestone in its high-speed rail programme, with the design of its first indigenously developed bullet train, B28, now ready. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this during his visit to BEML in Bengaluru, where he reviewed the train models and systems.
The BEML-led consortium is manufacturing the trainset for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor and other future routes. Its first prototype is expected to roll out early next year.

The train’s propulsion system, electronics and bogies are being developed to meet international standards. All components are undergoing rigorous safety and performance tests. Special pressure and structural tests are also being conducted to ensure the coaches can withstand extreme conditions at speeds of 280–350 kmph without deformation.
Vaishnaw expressed confidence that the indigenous B28 train will meet global quality and safety standards.
