India Calls on UNHRC to Intensify Global Cooperation Against Terrorism

India has urged the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to maintain a strong and consistent focus on combating terrorism, calling it one of the biggest threats to human rights, especially the right to life.
Addressing the UN General Assembly in New York, India’s First Secretary at the UN Mission, Bhavika Mangalanandan, stressed the need for stronger international cooperation to prevent and counter terrorism. Referring to a resolution adopted by the Human Rights Council in Geneva in July, she called for its effective implementation and reiterated India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
She also expressed concern over the politicisation of human rights issues and alleged double standards within the Council, warning that such practices could weaken its credibility.
