Odisha Police Intensifies Cyclone Preparedness Across 7 Districts

Odisha Police has stepped up preparedness across seven districts of the Central Range in view of the approaching Cyclone Arnab and the possibility of heavy rainfall, strong winds and flooding.
IGP Dr. Satyajit Naik has instructed district police chiefs to coordinate with the administration and emergency agencies to ensure public safety. Police personnel have been deployed in vulnerable and coastal areas, while four ODRAF teams are stationed in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Khordha.
Authorities are assisting with evacuations, particularly of vulnerable residents, and arranging traffic management, road clearance and round-the-clock emergency response. Patrolling has also been strengthened in evacuated areas to prevent theft and other incidents.
Special precautions are underway in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Puri to protect coastal residents, tourists and pilgrims.
Police have urged people to follow official advisories, avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from flooded roads and exposed electrical wires, and refrain from spreading rumours. Residents can seek emergency assistance by calling 112 or contacting their nearest police station.
Odisha Police has assured citizens that all necessary measures are being taken to respond to the cyclone threat.
