Ekta Kapoor Confirms ‘The Dirty Picture 2’

Producer Ekta Kapoor has confirmed plans for The Dirty Picture 2, nearly 15 years after the original film starring Vidya Balan hit theatres in 2011. She revealed that she has developed a story she wants to bring to the big screen, though the film’s details remain confidential.
Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Ekta said the sequel would explore a story she feels strongly about. She explained that the original film revolved around Silk Smitha and her unapologetic expression of sexuality, which society often viewed negatively.

Ekta said her understanding of the subject has evolved over time, with greater emphasis now on personal choice and the freedom to embrace one’s sexuality.
The producer also hinted that the upcoming film could draw inspiration from the life of another prominent personality. However, she has not disclosed the person’s identity, and further details are expected to emerge soon.
The makers are yet to announce the cast, director or release date of The Dirty Picture 2. It also remains unclear whether the sequel will follow the original film’s narrative style or present a fresh perspective.
