Quintals Ganja Seized in Kalahandi, Courier Manager Held

The Excise Department has seized around 500 kg of ganja from a courier office near Kesinga Road in Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi district.

Officials found the cannabis concealed inside foam-packed boxes, which were reportedly being prepared for shipment to Uttar Pradesh. The courier office manager, Satindra Kumar Pandey, a native of Rae Bareli district in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested and produced before the court.Investigators found that the consignment was addressed to an Additional District and Sessions Judge in Bulandshahr. However, the parcel reportedly did not carry the judge’s name, sender details or a return address, raising suspicion that the judicial address was deliberately used to avoid scrutiny.

Additional Excise Superintendent Sagarika Pradhan said the department is investigating the case to identify the wider network involved in the alleged smuggling operation. Officials suspect more people may be linked to the consignment and further arrests could follow.
