SCO Summit Begins in Bishkek, PM Modi Addresses Leaders

The 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit began in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Tuesday, marking 25 years of the grouping. This year’s summit is being held under the theme, “25 Years of the SCO: Together Towards Sustainable Peace, Development and Prosperity.”

The SCO currently has 10 member countries, including India, China and Russia. India became a full member of the organisation in 2017.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome at the summit venue and addressed the gathering. During the event, PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping shook hands and exchanged words while walking together. The two leaders were also seen speaking after joining other leaders for a group photograph.
