Odisha IPS Officer Shefeen Ahamed K Dies During Cancer Treatment

Shefeen Ahamed K, a 2003-batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was reportedly battling cancer.
A native of Kerala, Shefeen had been serving as Inspector General (IG) of the Odisha Crime Branch since July 2023. An engineering graduate, he was the son of CITU leader Habib and had also served in Kerala on inter-cadre deputation, including as SP (Rural), Thiruvananthapuram.


During his over two-decade-long career, Shefeen held several key positions in Odisha, including SP of Jharsuguda, DIG of the South Western Range, DIG (Technical), IGP of Home Guards, IGP of the Human Rights Protection Cell and DIG at Police Headquarters.
He was also honoured with several medals and awards for his work in cybercrime, CID and Crime Branch.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over his death and remembered him as a dedicated police officer whose service to the state and Odisha Police would always be remembered.
