Centre Removes 12-Minute Advertisement Cap for TV Channels

The Central Government has removed the 12-minute limit on the duration of advertisements that television channels can broadcast.
The change has officially come into effect following the notification of amendments to the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994, in the Gazette.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry had earlier indicated that the existing provisions on advertisement duration needed to be reviewed in view of significant changes in the television broadcasting sector.
With the latest amendment, the government has revised the framework governing the duration of advertisements on television channels.
