Jharkhand HC Puts Stay on Cancellation of JPSC Exams, Appointments

The Jharkhand High Court has stayed the state government’s decision to cancel certain JPSC examinations and appointments, providing major relief to candidates and newly appointed government employees.
The court heard multiple petitions challenging the government’s decision on Thursday. The case was heard by Justice Deepak Roshan.

The stay particularly concerns the cancellation of appointments made through the 11th to 13th JPSC examinations. Several selected candidates, including Saurabh Singh, Awadhesh Kumar, Deep Mala and Sonam Kumari, had approached the High Court against the government’s order. The petitions were argued by advocates Indrajit Sinha and Amritansh Vats. The court’s interim order has given relief to those who had already secured government jobs through the JPSC recruitment process.

Earlier, protests had been held in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations and recruitments. Following the protests, the Hemant Soren government announced the cancellation of several examinations and appointments.
The government had also proposed measures including a fast-track court for cases related to malpractice, internal monitoring cells in JPSC and JSSC, and a committee to recommend examination reforms. The committee has been asked to submit its report within two months.
