Traffic advisory for Independence Day Parade-2026 issued

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar-Kataka Commissionerate Police issued a traffic advisory for the Independence Day Parade-2026 imposing a partial ban on certain routes in Bhubaneswar for four days.
According to the Commissionerate Police, on the eve of State Level Independence Day Parade-2026, and during its rehearsal and full dress rehearsal, the following traffic restriction / diversion will be effective on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg and its periphery on August 11 and August 12 from 2.30 PM to 6 PM and on August 13 from 8.30 AM to 11.30 AM and on August 15 from 6 AM onwards till the completion of Parade/function.
- No heavy vehicles shall be allowed to ply towards Master Canteen Square either from Ram Mandir side or from Rajmahal side.
- Two wheelers and light motor vehicles shall be allowed from Rajmahal side towards Ram Mandir side through Master Canteen square only. Vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards PMG Square from Master Canteen Square till the completion of parade / event.
- No vehicles shall be allowed to proceed towards Rabindra Mandap side from Housing Board side and those vehicles shall be diverted at Keshari talkies crossing.
- No vehicle shall be allowed to move towards PMG square from AG square and those vehicles shall be diverted at Jaydev Bhawan Sqr. towards IDCOL auditorium side.
- All kinds of vehicles coming from 120 Bn. Square side shall be diverted towards Unit-IV at MLA colony crossing.
- All the lanes touching Mahatma Gandhi Marg shall be sealed and only pedestrian shall be allowed to proceed towards Mahatma Gandhi Marg.
- The following places are designated as “Parking Places” during the parade hours:
- BDA Bus stand near Railway Station.
- Open space in front of Congress Bhawan
- Open space in front of IDCOL Auditorium.
- Open space in front of Jaydev Bhawan
- Open space in front of SBI in Unit-III.
- Open space inside Rabindra Mandap.
- Unit-II Girls’ High School Ground
Besides this, selling of gas balloon is strictly prohibited in the area between PMG square and Master Canteen square on August 15 from 6 AM till the completion of State Level Parade.
Violation of the instant order is an offence punishable u/s 96 of the Odisha Urban Police Act 2003, warned the Commissionerate Police while requesting the public to plan their route accordingly.
