Kataka: Class VIII Student Drowns in Kathajodi River While Bathing With Friends

Kataka: A 13-year-old boy lost his life after drowning in the Kathajodi River near the Dhaurang area under Kataka Sadar police limits on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased, identified as Aryan Saha of Srikoruan village, was a Class VIII student at Gopalpur Maa Tarini Vidyapith School. He was the only child of his parents.

According to sources, Aryan had gone to the river with two of his friends at around 1 pm to take a bath. While they were in the water, the three boys were caught in the river’s strong current, which has intensified due to the rising water level.

A local youth from Bhoi Sahi in Srikoruan village noticed the boys struggling and immediately jumped into the river to help. He successfully rescued two of the children, but Aryan was swept away before he could be reached.

The boy was later pulled out of the river and rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka by his family members. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

After being informed, police from Kataka Sadar police station reached the hospital, took custody of the body, and initiated an investigation into the incident.

The tragic death has left Srikoruan village in shock, with grieving family members, neighbours, and locals mourning the loss of the young student.
