Rath Yatra in Puri: Devotee dies of suffocation, several others taken ill

Puri: In an unfortunate incident, a devotee died while several others were taken ill following suffocation during the world famous Rath Yatra in Puri city today.

According to reports, lakhs of devotees have gathered on the Grand Road of Puri to witness the chariot festival of Lord Jagannath and his Siblings today. However, several of them fell sick due to suffocation.

Immediately, all of them were rushed to the Puri District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) for treatment. But unfortunately one of them was declared dead by the doctors while another is still battling for life. However, the identities of the deceased and the injured persons are yet to be known.

Sources said that many others are also being shifted to the hospital in ambulance.
