Udala bus operators launch indefinite strike over assault on conductor

Udala: The services of buses in Udala of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district were put to a halt on Sunday after the Bus Owners Association and Motor Workers Union launched an indefinite strike over the alleged assault of a conductor and failure to nab the culprits behind the incident.

As per reports, the bus owners and the motor workers put on a boycott against providing services to any places inside the district and outside the state, following which all the buses did not move out of the Udala bus stand.

It has been alleged by the transport union members that a bus conductor was brutally thrashed by a group of youngsters in full public glare at around 2PM on Saturday.

According to the Union members more than 24 hours of incident have gone by, but no arrest was made, even when the incident took place 50 metres away from the police station.

The president of the Udala Motor Workers Union stated that they would call off their strike only when the culprits were put behind bars.

The strike is joint venture of both the Udala Bus Owners association and the Motor Workers Union.
